The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs doesn't believe Victor Cruz has a very good chance of making the Bears' 53-man roster.

Cruz is far more name than game at this point in his career. Turning 31 this winter, he simply doesn't have it anymore after numerous injuries. Cruz has lost more than a step and was running with the third-team offense in the third preseason game. Even with Cameron Meredith (knee) done for the year, there still isn't room for Cruz. Kendall Wright is the No. 1 slot receiver.

More notably, Cruz dropped what should have been an easy catch from Mitchell Trubisky on third-and-long with 4:16 remaining in the fourth quarter. It’s probably not a good sign that Cruz was even in the game at that point, as all of Chicago’s starters had already cleared out. Cruz had been a candidate to fill the Bears’ slot receiver role this year but now he’s fighting just to keep his roster spot. Cameron Meredith’s knee injury does help him in that pursuit.

With Kendall Wright working as the first-team slot receiver, Cruz played deep into the fourth quarter and was limited to 18 snaps. That usage suggests he is on the wrong side of the roster bubble, although coach John Fox suggested he could get a bigger chance this week. Outside of Cameron Meredith, the Bears have nothing but question marks at receiver.
