Panthers GM Marty Hurney said the team has talked to free agent QB Derek Anderson about re-signing.
The Panthers do not have any proven backup options behind Cam Newton on the depth chart. Even if they draft a developmental prospect this weekend, they could use a veteran safety blanket in the No. 2 spot, a role Anderson has filled since 2011. It would not be surprising to see him re-sign after the draft.
